Starting at the Hotel riders would proceed to the junction of Hard Times Cafe. Cross this junction to the top where you will find a Somerfield Supermarket. Turn right and proceed past the next junction, with the fire station on your right. 100 yards and you are now off road bearing left down single track and through a caravan site (Languard Caravan Park). Steady
terrain will take you through green fields and two gates (Scotchells
Common) until you come to a main road at Safeway Supermarket and garage
where you will turn left and then right through Sandown Airport. Keep on
the left of the airport for 300 yards and then proceed along the side of
another caravan park. When you reach the top of this steady climb descend to the minor road by the white picket fencing, where you will turn right for 1 mile. Just after the bridge turn left along the cycle track clearly marked by a green bridleway sign. Follow this cycle track to the next junction and cross the minor road and continue on the track to the next white picket fencing. You are now in Arreton. Cross the cycle crossing to Stickworth Hall following sign posted route through sheep's field. Go through the gate and straight ahead along the side of a house. The singletrack sandy climb is technical and you will need your wits about you. At the top bear to your left and 20 yards on turn right. Very sandy here so beware! Proceed across and down the farm lane to the minor road. Turn right here for 1 mile to Perreton farm where you will find The Bike Shed. Orange, Kona and Gary Fisher dealers with refreshments, advice and full workshop facilities. Once leaving the Bike Shed you will retrace your tracks to the bottom of the farm track. DO NOT TURN LEFT. Carry straight on and over a bridge to Budbridge Manor. Continue along this sandy bridleway for 2 miles and come to a main road (Through Moor Farm) you are in Godshill. Cross this busy road to take you up freemantel gate, GREAT CLIMB THIS! Get to the top and go through the gate and admire the view. Continue along the path to Appledurcombe manor and go down the hill to Wroxall. At the main road, turn right and go up the hill and turn left through black and white bollards. Turn immediate left through a gap in the wall and cover 3 miles of dis-used railway track that will take you back to the fire station at Shanklin. We hope you enjoy the ride! Come and discover the Isle of Wight - please contact us to find out more information.
